Chadderton Grasshoppers under-13s Red have clinched the division ‘A’ title in the North Bury Junior League.
They won 16 of their 20 league fixtures to pick up their first piece of silverware in five years of trying.
Hot-shot Martin Kenny scored five times on his debut and went on to net 54 goals in total out of the team’s 93 in all competitions.
Hoppers, who are managed by Martin Wharmby and Neil Wood, will play in the under-14s premier division next season.
Hoppers under-11s Blue twice came from behind in the second half to beat Bury North End 7-5 in their final league fixture of the season.
Ben Walton and man-of-the-match Callum Perry each notched hat-tricks, while George Becher got the other.
Under-12s Red recorded an emphatic 7-1 defeat of Whitworth — Josh O’Donnell (three), Josh Riley (two), Dan Javed and Liam Hall were on target — and they followed up with a 4-3 win over Middleton Boys.
A treble from Dan Javed and Josh O’Donnell strike did the damage.
But goals from Nathan Quinlan (two) and Matthew McGladdery were in vain as Hoppers under-13s Blue were beaten 13-3 by Marauder Mantas.
Other results and scorers are —
UNDER-10S: Chadderton Park ‘B’ 3, Brandleshaw 1.
