SHAW Rhinos are celebrating again after the club’s under-15s claimed the North-West Counties division three title.
At present, the side is the only one in rugby league bearing the Rhinos’ name after the club experienced tough times.
Coach Andy White is proud of the team’s achievement and the progress they have made.
“The team has been together for three years now and in the first two seasons we were regularly being beaten by heavy scores,” said White, who is staying on with the team as they move into division two as under-16s next season,
“I would like to thank all 19 players and the parents for their loyalty and commitment in what has been a fantastic achievement this year.”
The club is on the lookout for both players and sponsorship for next season.
Training takes place on Thursday nights from 6.30pm and Andy can be contacted on 07900 951803.
The club is also helping to organise a local schools’ tournament for Years Four and Five. Interested parties are also asked to contact Andy on the number above.
OLDHAM St Anne’s under-nines were defeated by eight tries to four against Rochdale Mayfield in the final game of the season.
Rob Charles scored twice, with Sam Hall and Jack Smyth adding to Saints’ tally, but their efforts were in vain as they slipped to defeat.
