Crompton collect schools title double

CROMPTON HOUSE dominated the Oldham Schools Athletic Championships, hosted by Radclyffe School, as they claimed the overall titles for boys and girls at both track and field events.

The girls were pushed hard by Our Lady’s, but Crompton House were top on the track at Years Seven, Nine and 10 and were second to their Royton rivals at Year Eight.

In field events, Crompton House won at Year Seven and 10, shared the honours with Our Lady’s at Year Nine and finished second to their close rivals at Year Eight.

Overall, the Crompton House athletes totalled 133 points to hold off Our Lady’s (84) and third-equal Saddleworth and North Chadderton (67).

It was a similar story in the boys competition as Crompton House emerged overall winners with 116 points, ahead of Saddleworth (89) and Royton and Crompton (81).

In track events, Crompton House won Years Seven and Eight, while Saddleworth topped Year Nine and, at Year 10, it was Royton and Crompton who took the honours.

Field events saw South Chadderton pick up Year Seven success, holding off joint-second Crompton House and Radclyffe.

Crompton House won Year Eight, from Our Lady’s, who were successful at Year Nine — just in front of Year 10 winners Blue Coat.
