Royton lads take title

ROYTON Cricket Club’s under-11 side stumped the opposition by winning the CLL title.

The youngsters from The Paddock went through the entire league campaign unbeaten, winning eight games while the other three fixtures were washed out.

The 10-a-side pairs competition involves 12 clubs with batsmen batting in pairs for four overs in a 20-overs-a-side match.

Aaron Tesz was Royton’s leading run scorer with 186 and an individual top knock of 39.

Team-mates Adam Gray, William Sandiford-Mitchell and Harry Greaves all scored over 100 runs for the season.

William, a leg-spin bowler, was the leading wicket taker with 21 dismissals including a best haul of seven for 10 against Walsden. Adam, Aaron, Harry and Patrick Casey all took more than 10 wickets apiece, while wicketkeeper Jack Snape had 15 dismissals.

Royton will represent the CLL in the Lancashire pairs competition. Having beaten Darwen in the opening round, they next take on Prestwich
