Waterhead Under 16s
WATERHEAD under-16s set themselves up for the new season by winning a rugby nines tournament at Golborne Parkside .
A 10-4 defeat of last season’s premier division runners-up Wigan St Patrick’s in the final followed up wins against Leigh Miners (10-6), Golborne Parkside (16-6) and Thatto Heath (20-6) in the group stage.
Try scorers on the day were Jonathan Fouldes (four), Kyle Mayall (three), Adam Steeple, Josh Johnson, Ben Whitehead and Ryan Jones, with Whitehead kicking six goals.
