OLDHAM under-15s are through to the Lancashire Schools’ Ainsworth Trophy Final following a convincing eight-wicket win against Pendle in their semi-final clash at Woodhouses CC.
The local lads have hit top form in the county knockout competition this season and they gave another good account of themselves, limiting the visitors to 231 for six from their allotted 50 overs.
Luke Du Feu (Bluecoat) was the pick of the Oldham attack, claiming a fine two for 30.
Oldham began their reply in commanding fashion through opening batsmen Nick Doyle (Audenshaw High School) and Joe Lovell (Our Lady’s).
Doyle remained unbeaten, clocking up 122, supported well by Connor Hey (St. Bede’s) who fell just one run short of his half century, and Lovell (45) as Oldham reached their target for the loss of two wickets.
The local youngsters will now face Rossendale, who beat Lancaster in the other semi, in the final on Tuesday, September 1 at Unsworth CC (10.45am).
