Avery’s heroics in vain

THE CLL under-15s suffered a narrow defeat against the Lancashire League in the final of the Michael Roche Inter-League Knock-out Cup at Middleton.
Jack Avery (Rochdale) hit an unbeaten 72, Jake Hooson (Walsden) 42 and Greg Butterworth (Rochdale) 30 as the CLL made 193 for four after taking first guard.
The Lancashire League reached their target with two balls to spare and six wickets down.
Royton’s Joe Lovell was the leading CLL bowler with three for 36.
