Accolade for goal ace jordan
A FORMER Heyside Juniors player is proving a big hit Down Under.
Jordan Watson, who emigrated to Australia in 2007, is the Football Federation of South Australia under-19s player of the year.
The Adelaide Panthers striker was picked from a batch of 200 nominees.
Jordan has scored 20 goals so far and is on the way to breaking his previous season’s total of 25.
The 18-year-old hot-shot has featured for the Panthers’ reserves and first team and is hoping to be offered a contract by the semi-professional club.
Jordan, who was a pupil at Crompton House, is action on Saturday when Panthers play for the Devin Cup, the showpiece knock-out competition in the Football Federation of South Australia under-19s Premier League.
The teenager joined Heyside Juniors at the age of nine and was a team-mate of Chelsea’s Danny Philliskirk, who has captained the youth team at Stamford Bridge, in the under-10s.
Jordan played for every Heyside age group until moving to Adelaide two years ago with mum Carmen, dad John, brother Aaron and sister Lauren.
