OLDHAM Schools under-14s recovered from a first-day reverse in the Greater Manchester Schools’ League with a comfortable 3-0 win against Macclesfield.

The town team were quick off the mark, scoring after just four minutes courtesy of a super strike from Greg Street (Blue Coat).

And they caught Macclesfield napping at the start of the second half when Dylan Moth, of South Chadderton, doubled their tally.

Macclesfield threatened to stage a fightback after they put Oldham under pressure, but Moth scored his second of the match just after the hour mark to make the points safe.

The under-14s are in action on Saturday when they tackle Bolton in a challenge match at the Lancaster Club (kick off 10.30am).

Meanwhile, the under-15s started their bid for back-to-back titles with an excellent 3-2 victory over Macclesfield.

The local lads, who were crowned under-14s champions last season, broke the deadlock after half-an-hour through a Jake Hoare (Crompton House) effort.

Macclesfield hit back early on in the second half to level, before nosing ahead two minutes later.

But Oldham refused to throw in the towel and, after missing a penalty, equalised through Matt Singleton (Crompton House).

And, with time running out, DeVaughn Bridge, of Blue Coat, bagged a last-gasp winner.
