Worthy winners

OLDHAM St Anne’s under-18s came from behind to run out worthy 16-7 winners over Leigh Miners in the premier division of the North-West Counties Youth League.

Trailing to a converted try with 12 minutes to go, a well-placed kick from Sean Casey was won in the air by Jordan White, who released Craig Basnett to score under the posts.

Man-of-the-match White added the conversion, only for Leigh to go ahead again through a drop goal. But Michael Simpson touched down out wide with five minutes to go, before a Nial Collins try under the posts, which was converted, completed the comeback.
