Katie plays starring role

A HAT-TRICK from Katie Lockwood, plus other efforts from Tanya Ashworth and Laura Barlow, clinched a 5-0 win for Uppermill under-11s over Middleton Girls in the North Manchester Girls League.
But the under-12s paid the penalty for lapses in defence as they were beaten 6-0 by a well-organised Curzon Ashton outfit.
Two goals to the good at half-time, Uppermill under-14s added four more after the break in a 6-2 triumph over Rochdale.
Jayme Butler-Jones and Ellen Bergin struck in the first-half, before Bergin with her second, Megan Ashton and Kirsty Ashworth (two) added to the tally.
The under-16s gave as good as they got before succumbing 3-2 against Heyside Angels Clarets, for whom Sophia Harper (two) and Jessica Cooke got the goals.
Behind early on, Rebecca Fleming restored parity when she converted Lucy Hurst’s inch-perfect cross.
Heyside gained the upper hand in the second half with two quick goals, but Uppermill’s heads didn’t drop and they set up a grandstand finish thanks to Kiera-Louise Baxter’s long-range effort.
ROCS FC under-13s were outplayed by an excellent Curzon Ashton side, who secured a 6-0 win.
But the under-16s, thanks to a goal from Nicole Kenyon, overcame Heyside Angels 1-0 in the best game of the season so far.
LEONI Harland and Sophie Chester scored the consolation goals for Heyside Angels Blues under-14s in a 5-2 defeat by Denton.
But Angels under-13s, with Natalie Gregory (two), Natalie Giblin, Alix Sephton (two), Ashleigh Dickenson and Kinsa Hmami, brushed aside Uppermill 7-0.
Alicia Stretton bagged a brace for Angels Clarets under-12s in a 2-0 defeat of OIdham Athletic, and Angels Whites under-11s recorded an emphatic 11-0 win over Glossop North End.
On target were Lavinia Whitehead (four), Ella Rigby (three), Molly Taylor (three), Katy Halligan and Emily Kay found the net.
And Emily Pennells scored twice and Antonia Keogh got the other for Angels Blues under-11s in a 3-2 defeat of Delemere Rangers.
CHADDERTON Park under-14s were beaten 9-0 by Heyside Angels Clarets. Kelly Ward (three), Beth Mellor (two), Emma Clayton (two), Shannon Ryan and Bethan Robinson did the damage.
