Slick Waterhead put record straight

RUGBY: WATERHEAD under-16s gained sweet revenge against Oldham St Anne’s for a defeat earlier in the season, winning 40-4 away from home.
Jack Cooke’s try out wide was converted by Ben Whitehead, who added a penalty for an 8-0 lead.
That was the way it seemed set to stay before half-time, only for a fine Kyle Mayall try, again converted, leaving St Anne’s 14-0 adrift.
Waterhead continued to go on the offensive with Jonathan Foulds scoring and Whitehead bringing up the 20-point mark.
Two quick-fire tries by Nathan Mason, converted by Whitehead, were added to by a Jake Shoel effort.
Jack Tindall responded for Saints but Foulds had the final say by wrapping up the try-scoring for the visitors.
Liam Aspin scored a try and conversion and was the outstanding player for Waterhead under-11s, who lost 18-16 in a thriller at Blackbrook.
A superb length-of-field effort from Ben Mort early on and a fine drive over the line from Nathan Beech-Farrow, plus one conversion from Garyn Allen, took the half-time score to 12-10 in Blackbrook’s favour.
Aspin’s try, plus his goal, put the visitors in front 16-10. But after breaking down the wing and cutting in under the posts, Blackbrook nicked all the points.
