Under-15s earn bragging rights

FOOTBALL: CLUB honour was at stake when two teams representing ROCS locked horns in the North Manchester Girls League.

And it was the under-15s who came out on top 3-1 thanks to a Rhema Mears double and a Danielle Pickett effort.

Angela Fox replied for the under-16s in the division which caters for both age groups.

Meanwhile, Alys Wild was on target for ROCS under-13s in a 1-1 draw against Heyside Angels, for whom Natalie Giblin replied.


UPPERMILL under-14s overcame a much-improved Chadderton Park 7-3.

Only one goal separated the sides at half-time — ’Mill were leading 3-2 — but the title-hopefuls surged clear to win comfortably in the end.

Megan Ashton struck four times, and there was one apiece for Jayme Butler-Jones, Chantelle Davies and Jess Hardie.


HEYSIDE Angels under-16s suffered a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City in the Tesco County Cup — but they posted a 4-0 win over Moston Juniors in a league game thanks to an Emma Harte treble and a Lauren Parkinson effort.

Beth Mellor and Shannon Ryan scored for Angels Clarets under-14s, but their goals were to no avail as they were beaten 3-2 by Harpurhey United.

Ella Milovanovic went nap and Alicia Stretton struck four times for Angels Clarets under-12s, who overcame Roach Dynamos 11-1. Ashleigh Wylie and Hannah Smedley made up the tally.

Under-12s Angels Inter had Emily Whitehead and Ellie Doggett on target in a 2-1 win over Curzon Ashton.

And Angels Whites under-11s, with goals from Ella Rigby, Lavinia Whitehead and Katy Halligan, defeated Curzon Ashton 3-1.


CHADDERTON Park under-13s dug deep to defeat Droylsden Juniors 3-2.

MEGAN Tindall, Niomi Whillans and Lauren Oldham scored for Oldham Athletic Girls under-11s in a 3-0 defeat of Middleton.

The under-12s enjoyed a 5-1 victory over Failsworth Dynamos — Tia Jackson (two), Chole Pickering (two) and Laura Garlick got the Athletic goals while Mia Welsh replied — but the under-13s were beaten 6-0 by Denton Girls.

The under-14s lost 6-0 to Heyside Angels Blues — Kayleigh Larkin (three), Leoni Harland (two) and Paige Rowland did the damage — but Nicole Scott (two) and Keshia Harvey scored for the under-16s in a 3-0 win over Uppermill.
