Tom’s extra special strike for Heyside
Date published: 25 November 2009
FOOTBALL: HEYSIDE Juniors under-16s twice came from behind to clinch a place in the last 16 of the Manchester County Cup with a 4-3 extra-time win over Droylsden Youth Centre.
The Stockport League visitors led 1-0 but had a player sent off before the break and goals from Matthew Dell and Tom Devenport put Heyside in control.
However, two fine efforts on the break reversed the lead. But Dell’s free-kick with five minutes remaining forced the game into extra time in which Tom Shaw grabbed the winner.
Heyside JFC under-11s are also through to the next round after goals from Ronan Beckett, Harry Wain and Jack Altamis clinched a 3-1 win over Heaton Mersey Vipers.
CHADDERTON Park Eagles under-12s continued their County Cup quest with a 2-1 win over De La Salle, who are leading the way in the Timperley League.
The goals were scored by A Moore as they look to improve on last season’s semi-final exit.
CHADDERTON Juniors under-12s, from the East Manchester Junior League, are out after they went down 7-2 to Hough End Dragons.
Ashley Hartley and Danny Miller got the consolation goals.

IT was a case of lucky 13 for Boundary Park Juniors under-12s against Dukinfield Tigers.
Spearheaded by Kenan Roddy-Webb’s four goals, the local outfit swept aside Dukinfield Tigers 13-2.

SPRINGHEAD under-14s suffered their second league defeat in as many weeks as they were beaten 2-1 by Manchester Youth — but they still lead the way.
Goalless at the break — the local outfit were denied time and again by the woodwork and the ’keeper — it was Youth who nosed ahead when they took advantage of a mix up in the penalty area.
But the title hopefuls were soon back on level terms when defender Connor Lucas fired home.
Kaimmen Morris then had a ‘goal’ disallowed for offside, before they conceded a second late on after another mistake.
Springhead can exact instant revenge when they meet Youth again this weekend.
FAILSWORTH Dynamos under-14s hit five against Medlock Rangers but they had to settle for a share of the spoils.
Perry Oatway (two), Luke Heavens (two) and Kane Kingsland scored for Dynamos in the 5-5 draw.
