Hoppers exact revenge

FOOTBALL: REVENGE was sweet for Chaddy Hoppers under-13s Blue in the North Bury Junior League.
They recorded a 5-4 win in a topsy-turvy game against Barrhill, who had beaten Hoppers on the opening day of the season.
On target were Nathan Randle (two), Elliot Moss, Daniel Randle and James Kirby.
The Red team climbed to the top of the table after they impressed in a 5-1 defeat of Middleton Colts.
This was the third meeting between the two sides this season — they had won a game each — but Hoppers were far superior on this occasion thanks to goals from Matty Goulding (two), Lewis Gilligan (two) and Dan Javed.
The under-16s wrecked Unsworth’s unbeaten record with a slick 6-3 success.
Kelvin Mupa weighed in with a hat-trick, while stunning free-kicks from Joe Freeman and Zak Brooks were followed by a fine solo effort from Kyle Latham.

Rain, rain go away
OLDHAM under-15s hope to end a frustrating run of postponements due to waterlogged pitches in the Greater Manchester Schools’ League on Saturday.
The town team are keeping their fingers crossed that this weekend’s fixture against Trafford, at a venue to be confirmed, goes ahead (kick-off 10.30am).
They can look forward to a busy schedule of fixtures after the Christmas break having played just one league game so far.
The under-14s are also in Greater Manchester Schools’ League action on Saturday with a trip to Trafford (10.30am).
Their game against Bury was postponed last weekend due to a waterlogged pitch.
Honours even after 10-goal thriller
THERE were goals galore as Heyside JFC under-12s and Failsworth Rangers went head to head in the Tameside and District Junior League.
Joe Fagan (two), James Forde, Liam Taylor and Aiden Stevenson scored for JFC, but they also conceded five as the contest ended in a cracking 5-5 draw.
Owen Shaughnessy and George Riley were on target for Junior Blues under-11s, who were beaten 3-2 by Tintwistle Athletic.
But the under-13s, with Adam Constable, Hayden Clarke, Aaron Davies and Jake Shrine on the mark, defeated Brendon Bees 4-2.
Tameside Sunday League
FLIPPERS rather than football boots were the order of the day as Failsworth Town under-13s were beaten 6-3 by Middleton Lads in the Tameside Sunday League.
C Schofield (two) and B McGrath scored the consolation goals.
AIDAN Ball (two), Michael Clune and Chase Harrison got the goals as Chaddy End FC under-16s swept aside Stalybridge Celtic 4-1.
HEYSIDE Juniors under-14s had Tom Dunn and George Tilley on target in a 2-0 win over Barrhill.
