BEN WHITE
RUGBY: BEN WHITE is proudly following in the footsteps of a Super League great.
The 14-year-old Saddleworth School pupil has been an outstanding performer in a crack Year 10 rugby league side that has claimed the Carnegie Champions Schools North-West title for the past three years.
Now, he is set to tread a path followed by Leeds Rhinos star Kevin Sinfield (bottom right), the last Saddleworth pupil chosen to represent England.
Ben’s performances have earned him a place in the 2010 England Youth Squad, which encompasses both under-15s and under-16s age groups.
After a medical next month, he is set to take part in three national training camps, the first in February next year and the second of which takes place in France over eight days in April, 2010.
Coates is a six-try hit
ROBBIE Coates scored six tries for the under-eights of Saddleworth Rangers against Westhoughton in a thrilling clash which ended all-square at seven scores apiece.
Kien Molloy also touched down for Rangers in a hard-working performance. Joe Killan was the most improved player, top tackler was Bennett Tupaea and Coates picked up the man-of-the-match award.
