HEYSIDE’S flawless performance in the field saw them pull off an improbable 14-run win over Royton One in week two of the Oldham and District Cricket Development under-11s Indoor League at the Millennium Centre.

Royton One had looked in complete control after winning the toss and restricting Heyside to 221 for four.

However, Royton’s hopes of maintaining their winning start to the season crumbled when they lost eight wickets and finished on 207 to leave both sides on one win from two games.

A strong-looking Woodhouses did notch up a second success, Sam Brooks leading the way with three catches as Glodwick Alt made 188 for nine.

In reply Woodhouses strolled to victory making 244 for three with Jack Marriott top scoring with 16 to go with his three wickets.

Saddleworth One captain James Howard led from the front, scoring 23 as his side made 270 for two against Glodwick One, who never really got going in their chase and struggled to 214 for five with Aaron Scholes taking two for five, the pick of the bowlers.

Over at the Oldham Sports Centre, Uppermill improved showing in posting 231 for three still wasn’t enough as Austerlands plundered 260 for four to make it two from two.

Shaw continued their impressive form, as the early season pacesetters amassed 277 for one against Royton Two. This was always going to be a tall order and Royton Two’s 217 for five meant Shaw won by 60 runs.

Glodwick Two kept up the pressure on Shaw as they brushed aside Saddleworth Two by 29 runs — Glodwick making 274 for three and Saddleworth Two 243 for five.
