POINTS SHARED

OLDHAM under-15s had to settle for a share of the points after being held to a 2-2 draw by Tameside in the Greater Manchester Schools’ League.

The town team were targeting back-to-back league victories, and were on course when Brian Potto, of Royton and Crompton, opened the scoring after 11 minutes.

The local outfit had much the better of the first period, but went into the break on level terms after they were caught napping at the back.

However, Oldham regained their composure and went ahead for the second time through a superb long-range strike from Jake Coe (Radclyffe).

But Tameside hit back straight away to claim a point.

The Oldham under-14s fixture against Wigan was postponed due to a frozen pitch, but they hope to return to Greater Manchester Schools’ League action on Saturday against Salford at Broughton (kick-off 10.30am).
