Josh paves the way to victory

INDOOR CRICKET: JOSH LEES laid the foundation for Woodhouses’ 17-run defeat of Glodwick One in the Oldham and District Cricket Development under-11s Indoor League.

The young Medlock Road bowler claimed three wickets for nine runs to help restrict their opponents to 228 for five.

In reply, steady contributions throughout steered Woodhouses to 245 for one.

Batsmen were definitely on top in the second game at the Millennium Centre between Heyside and Saddleworth One.

Only three wickets fell in the whole game with Saddleworth, who were asked to take first knock after losing the toss, making 261 for two.

James Howard, with 17, led the way and he was supported by Bradley Flynn, who made 12. Bradley Flint claimed both wickets.

Heyside lost just one wicket in reply — Richard Wilson was the successful bowler — but completed their overs 15 runs short of victory.

Glodwick Alt recorded their biggest total of the season so far — 224 for five — but they still had to play second fiddle to a Royton One side, who made 261 for one.

At the Oldham Sports Centre, Shaw defeated Glodwick Two by 16 runs. Batting first, the Holebottom Clough outfit compiled a competitive 247 for three, with Matthew Gibson (14) and Jacob Clark (13) impressing. Joe Hulme took two wickets.

Gibson followed up his efforts with the bat by taking three wickets in Glodwick Two’s total of 226 for eight.

Uppermill were beaten by Saddleworth Two, who rattled up 276 for two. The lads from Leafields replied with 230 for five.

In the final game of the evening, Austerlands resisted Royton Two by five runs after posting 219 for five. Royton Two lost two wickets when it was their turn to bat.
