INDOOR CRICKET: THE top of the table clash featuring Shaw and Woodhouses in the Oldham Cricket Development Group under-11s Indoor League ended in a thrilling tie.

Shaw took first knock at the Millennium Centre and, thanks to Jack Leach (14) and Aaron Birtwistle (12), they outfit amassed 251 for two. Jack Marriott and Ben Atkinson claimed a wicket apiece.

Woodhouses made a shaky start in reply — Tom Ashworth and Leach made early breakthroughs — but Atkinson (12) and Joe Hanrahan (seven) put their side back on an even keel.

They needed three runs to win off the last ball, but scrambled two to force a tie on 251 for three.

Meanwhile, a hat-trick from Max Yeo was in vain as Glodwick One, who were restricted to 209 for five, were beaten by Saddleworth Two.

Yeo took four wickets in total, but was unable to prevent the Well-i-Hole outfit from clinching a 29-run win.

James Fish claimed two wickets and scored 26 for Saddleworth Two (238 for six), while Daniel Manton also chipped in with a brace of victims.

Batting first, Saddleworth One accumulated 264 for one against Glodwick Two. James Howard compiled a fine 28.

The lads from Warren Lane reached 238 for four in reply, with Qasim Lohdi making 23.

William Kay (two), Flynn Bradley and Tom Hutchinson were the Saddleworth wicket-takers.

Bradley Flint was the star of the show for Heyside in a 35-run defeat of Uppermill.

He took four for 17 to limit ’Mill to 230 for five after making 19 in a total of 265 for two. Other Heyside contributions came from Lewis Bardsley (16) and Corey Heaton (15).

Glodwick Alt are still looking for their first win in the competition.

Opponents Austerlands, searching for a third victory on the bounce, made 263 for three. Alt’s reply finished on 230 for five.

Wickets were at a premium in the Royton derby, where the ‘Ones’ (249 for one) beat the ‘Twos’ (235 for one) by 14-run margin.
