INDOOR CRICKET: SHAW were crowned Oldham Cricket Development Under-11s Indoor League champions after clinching a 17-run victory over title rivals Royton One.

Batting first in the winner-takes-all showdown at Failsworth Sports Centre, Shaw compiled 254 for five, thanks to the efforts of openers Jack Leach (10) and Tom Ashworth (12), plus late support from Jacob Clark (13).

Chandler Akroyd was again the pick of the Royton One bowlers, claiming four wickets in four balls. He claimed a hat-trick the previous week. Declan Bradbury took the other wicket.

Royton One made a bright start in their pursuit of the target.

Akroyd struck 13 at the top of the order, but he had little support as his side, whose cause was hindered by three run outs, trailed behind Shaw on 237 for four.

Saddleworth One claimed the runners-up spot after finishing their campaign with a comprehensive 64-run defeat of Royton Two.

With Flynn Bradley (two), Arron Scholes and William Kay among the wickets, the Paddock outfit were restricted to 225 for four.

Saddleworth One’s strong batting line-up again came to the fore as James Howard (12), Richard Wilson (15), Bradley (12) and William Wright (20) lifted their side to 289 for no wicket.

Woodhouses slim chances of the title were extinguished as they slipped to defeat to Glodwick Two by just two runs.

The Medlock Road boys made 245 for four, while Glodwick finished on 247 for three.

Glodwick One and Austerlands contested an equally close game.

The former emerged victorious by a three-run margin after making 222 for five against their opponents’ 219 for three.

Heyside ended their season on a high with victory over Saddleworth Two.

Corey Pearson and Euan Rigby claimed two wickets apiece as Saddleworth closed on 218 for six.

Lewis Bardsley was the star of the Heyside run chase, scoring 15 as his side finished on 226 for two.

Uppermill saved their best until last as they secured their first win of the season against a plucky Glodwick Alt team.

Taking first knock, Uppermill made 245 for three. Glodwick completed their allotted overs on 237 for two.
