TABLE TENNIS:
THE juniors from the Oldham & District Table Tennis League achieved double success at the Halton Stadium competing in the fourth and final round of the National Cadet League for under-15’s.
The ‘A’ Team of Matthew Kelly (14), James Chappell (10) and Josh Poole (13) were runners up in the second division.
In a thrilling final match they had to beat Rhyl 6-0 to pip St Helens for the runners-up spot.
The more inexperienced ‘B’ team of Mark Pellowe (12), Callum Allman (11), Paige Allman (14) and Adam Newton (12) went one better by winning the third division championship by a considerable margin, being undefeated in all four rounds.
With the majority of players still available for next year, hopes are high that the teams will be capable of further honours in the next campaign.
