Top spot is in sight

OLDHAM under-15s are still in with a shout of lifting the Greater Manchester Schools’ League title if they can win their remaining three matches.

The division has been closely contested this season and any one of the nine sides involved could still finish on top.

Stockport are front runners on 11 points with just two games left, against Bolton and a strong Manchester outfit, who trail the leaders by four points. Manchester lead Salford, Trafford and Bury, who are all within a point of each other.

Oldham find themselves a further point behind those four with five points to their credit. Bolton, Bury and Salford are their upcoming fixtures.

Bolton, Macclesfield and Tameside complete the table, occupying the bottom three places but still within grasp of the title.

Greater Manchester Schools’ League secretary, Alan Smith, has set a deadline for league matches to be completed by May 15, which leaves little time for Oldham to arrange their remaining games, following their return to action after the Easter break.
