Harrier flies into runner-up spot

ATHLETICS: ADAM Howard, of Oldham and Royton Harriers, finished second from 154 runners in the 13-14 year-old category in the London mini-marathon.
Representing the north-west, he ran the final three miles of the marathon course in 15 minutes 33 seconds, and was followed by Jack Crabtree in seventh place (16:15).
In the 11-12-years boys’ race, Christopher Brown was 10th from 240 runners in 17:38.
In the marathon, Harriers member Dominic Kennerley took more than seven minutes off his personal best in three hours 25 minutes three seconds, while Pete Williams recorded 3:33:00.
Darren Manning ran an excellent first marathon in 3:50:09, with Paul Taylor clocking 5:06:19 and Dave Elliott 5:18:08.
