YOUTH RUGBY:
OLDHAM St Anne's under-12s bounced back from a disappointing defeat in the North-West Counties Cup final to claim another trophy — the Chronicle Cup — in fine style.
Saints defeated Milnrow 28-0 to claim the title, with boy-of-the-match Oliver Russell scoring twice to add to a pair of tries from Jacob Foley and one from Patrick Casey.
Russell and Casey both kicked two goals as St Anne's triumphed at Saddleworth Rangers ARLFC.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers under-10s lost 16-6 at Shevington Sharks in a terrific game of rugby league.
The final result could have gone either way and it took two late tries from the home side to take the game away from Rangers.
A tight first period went Saddleworth's way when Guy Edwards skipped round the defence to take a great kick, helping his side to a 6-0 half-time lead.
Rangers pushed hard in the second half but a further score eluded them and Shevington recovered to run out winners.
BRADLEY Jinks was man-of-the-match for Saddleworth’s under-nines as they saw off Hindley by seven tries to six.
A length-of-field try from Josh Yarwood was followed up by scores from Ben Forster, Jinks and most improved player Tom Healey, helping Rangers claim the win.
