Latics still on course for glory after semi-final win

FOOTBALL: OLDHAM Athletic girls under-12s beat Curzon Ashton Blues 2-1 in the North Manchester Girls’ League Cup semi-final thanks to goals from Chloe Pickering and Tia Jackson.

They also won their League Cup play-off with Uppermill on penalties.

The under-16s claimed a 2-2 draw with Heyside Clarets in the Martin Harding Cup.

Vicky Connor and Yasmin Deane were on the scoresheet for Athletic.

This was followed by a 3-1 victory at the expense of Heyside Angels. Deane bagged a brace and Keshia Harvey completed the scoring.

Harvey was again on target in a 1-1 draw with Uppermill.

Athletic under-14s exited the League Cup following a 3-1 defeat to Heyside Clarets, the consolation effort coming courtesy of Feiruz Abdullah.

There was semi-final heartache for Athletic under-11s.

Megan Tindall was on target but they were beaten 5-1 by Heyside Angles Whites, whose goals came via a Molly Taylor hat-trick, Emily Kay and Lavinia Whitehead.


ROCS FC under-13s edged out Heyside Angels 1-0, Abby Bennett finding the net.

In the League Cup, they came from behind to beat Oldham Athletic 2-1.

Bennett was again on the scoresheet, as was Samantha Bickerstaffe.


HEYSIDE Angels Blues under-14s beat Heyside Angels Clarets 3-2 courtesy of goals from Kayleigh Larkin, Leoni Harland and Paige Rowland.

The under-13s edged Chadderton Park 3-2, Natalie Giblin got two and Ashleigh Dickenson one.

But they lost the League Cup semi-final 3-2 to Curzon Ashton. Kinsa Hmami and Alix Sephton scored.

The under-12s won their League Cup semi-final against Curzon 4-3. Ellie Doggett got a hat-trick, while Caitlin Senior also found the net.
