RUGBY LEAGUE: A STRONG team performance from Saddleworth Rangers under-10s saw them win 30-10 away at Portico Vine.
The visitors drew first blood with a try by Nathan Burgess, Finn Gallagher kicking the conversion, before doubling the advantage through a James Rice effort which was goaled by Matt Tetlow.
Portico answered with the first of their two tries, soon followed up by Josh Molloy’s effort for Rangers which he also converted for a 18-10 half-time advantage.
Strong defensive work prevented Portico adding to their tally and Nathan Roebuck converted his own try, with Molloy crossing for Kristian Hilton to add another two points to the Saddleworth total.
DANNY FISH scored five tries for Oldham St Anne’s under-nines, who totally outclassed Wigan St Patrick’s by 10 scores to five.
Ethan Chiappe (three), Alfie Baldwin and Asa France got the other scores in a fine victory for the home side.
Patrick Connor had reason to celebrate after St Anne’s under-eights won by seven tries to three away at Waterhead.
He scored a try and picked up the boy-of-the-match award for Saints, who also crossed through Brandon Turner (two), Michael Cashin (two), Owen Smith and Sam Thackeray.
