MY BALL: Failsworth’s Louis Mayers holds off a couple of challenges in the Oldham Schools Rugby League Year Sevens final.
RUGBY: SADDLEWORTH clinched a hat-trick of trophies in the Oldham Schools rugby league finals held at Manor Park and Hollinwood ARLFC.
The Year sevens repelled a second-half fightback to beat Failsworth 26-20.
Saddleworth had scored 22 unanswered points by the mid-way stage of the clash.
But they were forced to hang on after their opponents finished with a flourish.
The Year eights had no such trouble against Counthill.
Leading 32-0 at half-time, they added eight more points after the interval to record a 40-4 victory.
And Saddleworth made a treble with a 22-12 defeat of Our Lady’s.
But they were denied a four-timer after losing 24-8 to Blue Coat.
Our Lady’s, who had to settle for second best in the Year 10s showdown, came out on top 14-8 against Counthill in the Year 11s final.
