Crompton finish top of the class

TALENTED youngsters excelled themselves in the Oldham Schools’ Athletics Championships.
Crompton House led the chasing pack by winning three of the four categories.
They came top in the boys’ and girls’ field events, and also clinched top spot in the girls’ track competition.
Only Hulme prevented a clean sweep, by topping the boys’ track category.
Crompton House boasted nine individual winners in the girls’ track section, putting 101 points on the board.

They got their hands on the Year Eight and 10 titles, with Saddleworth taking the Year Seven gong and Blue Coat leading the way in Year Nine.
Saddleworth trailed dominant Crompton House by 23 points, while Our Lady’s beat nearest rivals Blue Coat to third place.
RESULT: Crompton House 101, Saddleworth 78, Our Lady’s 73, Blue Coat 52, North Chadderton 49, Hulme 44, South Chadderton 41, Radclyffe 36, Royton and Crompton 30, St Augustine’s 16, Kaskenmoor 13, Hathershaw 11, Counthill 5.
IN the boys’ track events Hulme had eight individual victors, who helped put the winning total of 110 points on the board.
They roared to the Year Seven and 10 titles, finishing runner-up to Counthill in Year Nine and third in Year Eight, which Radclyffe won.
In the final standings Hulme were an impressive 22 points ahead of Crompton House, with Counthill finishing third.
