Top spot still a Shaw thing as leaders impress

CRICKET: SHAW ‘A’ maintained their lead at the top of the under-15s table with a comfortable win at Moorside in the Saddleworth and District Cricket League.

A slow pitch saw the visitors post 97 for three in 20 overs, Lawrie Hughes recording 39.

Moorside were bowled out for 55.

Heyside dismissed Austerlands for 85, Adam Haisler scoring 33.

In reply 35 from Jordan Whyatt helped Heyside reach their goal with seven wickets in hand.

Saddleworth ‘A’ mustered 134 for eight against Uppermill, who were still 51 runs short of their target when the last wicket fell.

Michael Habberley claimed five for 29 for Saddleworth.

At Holebottom Clough, Glodwick raced to 151 for four against Shaw ‘B’.

Seb Leach hit 20 in reply but Shaw finished on 107 for nine.

Friarmere restricted Royton to 90 for six at West View, Adil Mahmood taking four for 20.

The home side reached their goal for the loss of five wickets.

There was no action in the under-17s league, so Austerlands still sit proudly at the top of the table with 19 points.

The leaders are three points clear of Shaw, Friarmere and Milnrow.

Uppermill are still searching for their first win of the season.
