LEADERS Shaw ‘A’ under-15s dug out a 10 run-victory against Royton in the Saddleworth and District League.
The home side reached 114 for nine, with Adam Temple registering 50.
Royton openers Kurran Hussain and D Bardsley made 52 from the first seven overs.
However, excellent support bowling and the retirement of Kurran on 50 allowed Shaw to take wickets at regular intervals and in doing so they restricted the run flow and bowled out Royton for 105.
Second-placed Heyside also snatched victory from defeat against Glodwick in an entertaining game at Little Hey.
Having had the visitors at two for two, Heyside were hoping to restrict Glodwick to a low total but 50 from Zain Lohdi allowed Glodwick to reach 133 for five.
Then Glodwick’s bowlers had Heyside at 13 for four and must have thought that victory was theirs.
However, poor fielding and good batting from Jake Cooper (43 not out) saw Heyside to victory with just three balls left in the game.
Saddleworth ‘A’ bowled out Moorside for 78, but were
dismissed for just 53.
Austerlands took the points at Droylsden with a six-wicket win. Restricting the home side to 93 for seven, Austerlands sealed victory with Harry Ripley top scoring on 29.
Restricting Friarmere to 83 for eight, Saddleworth ‘B’ posted 84 for four.
Uppermill made 133 against Stayley, who ended on 102
for six.
Under-11s defeated
OLDHAM under-11s lost to Bury in the Lancashire Schools’ Merit League.
They fared well at the crease and ended their 30 overs with 130 for six, James Howard
top-scoring with 59.
But Bury sailed past their target for the loss of three wickets, Tayab Ali claiming two for 12 for Oldham.
