CHLOE Oldham beat Natasha Banjac 6-3 in the final of the Dunlop Oldham and District Championship’s under-15s competition.
For the the first time in the competition's history, the boys’ event had to be cancelled because a lack of entries.
Tame Valley Tennis Club in Greenfield played host to the six-hour event, which was blessed with sunshine throughout.
Organiser Kath Moss said: “Obviously it’s a shame that no boys entered, and two girls pulled out on the morning of the competition because they had other commitments.
“But for those who were left, it turned out to be a very enjoyable experience.
“The weather stayed fine and there was some fantastic tennis being played.
“They had a round robin to decide who would meet in the final, but all four girls did very well.
“There was a barbecue which was well received, I think they all worked up an appetite!”
Kath said plans are already in place for next year’s competition.
She added: “In the past we have held this tournament in the first week of the school summer holidays.
“We will be returning to that format next year.”
