SHAW ‘A’ retained the Saddleworth and District League under-15s Leicester Shield with a 30-run victory over Saddleworth ‘B’ at Well-i-Hole.
It’s the fourth successive year Shaw ‘A’ have won the competition - which is a tournament record.
Shaw won the toss and elected to bat, but openers Tom Needham-Barton (41) and Lawrie Hughes (seven) found the heavy pitch hard work.
Joe Burgoyne (34) and Graham Sinclair (18) gave Shaw the initiative before Sam Clark (42) and Danny Cooper (35) put on a swashbuckling 76 in the final 11 overs to help their side reach 191.
Elliott Birtwistle and James Mitchell opened the Shaw bowling and put pressure on Tom Fleming and Tom Jowett.
Once Jowett was run out for six, Ben Corbett came to the crease and helped fuse a brisk 34-run partnership for the second wicket.
Saddleworth were 31 runs short of their target when the final wicket fell.
The under-17s Romida Trophy final takes place on Sunday. Milnrow are looking to complete the double when they travel to Friarmere (1.30pm).
