Double awards boost
Date published: 01 September 2010
FOOTBALL: SPRINGHEAD AFC have been handed two prestigious awards.
West Riding County Football Association has named them Community Club of the Year.
And to put the icing on the cake, Oldham Athletic Community Trust handed Springhead the Oldham Club of the Year gong.
Club secretary Vicky Cunningham explained: “West Riding were particularly keen on the work we do outside of normal duties and activities.
“We run schemes for disabled people to come and play once a month, and we also have mentoring projects, where Level Two coaches mentor Level One coaches, which helped gain the other award.”
Springhead are running trials for new under-15 players on Wednesdays at 6pm.
And a soccer school takes place on Saturdays between 9am and 11am at the club building off John Street, for under-nines and under-10s.
