FOOTBALL:

FAILSWORTH Dynamos under-10s hope to emulate last season’s heroics in brand new surroundings — before jetting off abroad at the end of the campaign.

Last term, playing as under-nines in the Tameside and District Mini-Soccer League, the squad was split into to sides and both won league and cup doubles.

This time around, competing as under-10s in the East Manchester Junior League, the squad of 20 - again divided into two teams - have their eyes on more silverware.

It won’t be easy though. Their recent success has seen them fast-tracked into the top division in the league.

Tony Jordan, who jointly manages the side with Mike Carr, said: “It is a step into the unknown for us this season.

“The standard will be very high because we find ourselves in the top division.

“But it is incredibly exciting for all concerned and a challenge we are all relishing. We just want to be able to compete.

“We are currently in the process of booking a trip to the Netherlands next summer to take part in a couple of tournaments, as a bit of a treat for the lads.

“No one wants to rely on mums and dads to fund the entire break, so the players will be bag-packing at supermarkets and washing cars to help raise some money.

“They will take a sense of achievement from that and it will hopefully help them enjoy the trip even more.”

Dynamos made an unbeaten start to the season in two games against Stockport Junior Blues.
