Tournament success for teenagers

NETBALL: OLDHAM Netball Club had two reasons to celebrate at the annual Teens Tournament at Wright Robinson Sports College, Gorton.
The under-15s ‘B’ team played above themselves to win the under-16s competition, while the
under-14s pocketed their first piece of silverware with success in their section.
The older age group finished top of their group.
They met Oldham ‘A’ in the last four, and emerged victorious 16-5. Goal machine Alice Travis, standing at 6ft 2in, was instrumental, with Gabriella Marshall providing the passes.
The final against Tameside was the ‘B’ team’s toughest match of the day, but they came through 8-6.
Oldham’s under-14s made comfortable progress into the last four, where they recovered from a three-goal deficit against YWCA Bury to win 5-4.
Eccles were their opponents in the final, and the result could have gone either way — the teams were all-square at half-time — but great play from Issy McGlashen spurred Oldham to a 9-6 victory.
