RUGBY LEAGUE: HIGGINSHAW under-16s roared to a 28-4 triumph over Leigh East.

The Higgy defence was at its best, and didn’t concede a single try.

Callum Deakin scored two at the other end, and was joined on the scoresheet by Bradley Turner, Jack Hughes and Neil Reyburn.

Jamie Mayall added four conversions, while Luke Makin was named man of the match.

The under-10s suffered a narrow 14-10 defeat to Leigh East in torrential rain.

Marshall Needham broke through to hand Higgy the lead, and they went in front again through a Ryan Wade Try and conversion,

following their opponents’ equaliser.

Two tries and a conversion from Leigh swayed the match in their favour after the break.

OLDHAM St Anne’s under-12s edged a low-scoring encounter 4-2 at the expense of Atherton Dragons.

Saints chose to play uphill in the first half, during which time they only conceded an Atherton penalty goal.

After the break Regan Croft ran 50 metres down the left flank to score for Saints, with James Barran narrowly missing the conversion.

Saints survived a late onslaught to seal victory.

SADDLEWORTH Rangers under-11s earned a 30-14 win at Shevington Sharks.

Nathan Roebuck gave the visitors the perfect start by running rings around the opposition defence and putting down, before adding the extras.

James Rice got their second, converted by Matt Tetlow, before the Sharks pulled one back prior to the break.

Josh Molloy added a try for Rangers, Finn Gallagher slotting over the conversion, and Kai Armstrong ran half the length of the pitch to score.

The Sharks hit back with two tries, but Molloy made sure with one of his own at the end.

Roebuck was man of the match.
