RUGBY LEAGUE: FAILSWORTH ticked all the boxes as they won the Oldham Schools’ Year Eight rugby competition.
They came out on top in a nail-biting final at Manor Park, Bardsley, which saw them edge out Saddleworth 3-2.
Hathershaw and Oasis Academy and the Waterhead Academy were the other two sides who took part, on an afternoon of fine weather.
The event, run by Oldham Sports Development, acted as a qualifier for the Champion Schools Festival, to be held after Christmas.
Failsworth will represent Oldham in the tournament, which will be held at a yet-to-be-confirmed venue in the North-West.
