Derby joy for Saints

RUGBY: DERBY day saw Oldham St Anne’s under-12s beat Waterhead 10-0.
James Barran touched down and converted, before Owen Baldwin crossed to ensure the victory.
Saints’ under-nines earned a 7-4 triumph over Bold Miners.
Sam Thackeray, Daniel Nixon and Patrick Connor scored two tries each, with Michael Cashin also getting in on the act.
WATERHEAD under-14s earned a 26-10 victory over Shevington.
Matty Jackson scored a hat-trick, and was joined on the scoresheet by Harry Godfrey and Robert Wood.
The under-11s beat West Haughton, thanks to tries from Will Dickenson, Liam Leech, Kegan Brennan, Mason Edmonson, Dane Taylor and Jack Bradbury.
The under-nines defeated Rochdale Mayfield, with touch downs from George Maders, Joseph Hetloft, Josh Hughes, Nat Brown, Josh Thewlis, Ethan Forster, Archie Hubbard, Cameron Stuart-Eastwood and Alex Farnell.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers under-16s lost 28-16 to Bold.
Rangers conceded three tries in the first 12 minutes, and another just before the break.
Ross Hansford swiftly replied for Rangers in the corner, making it 20-4 at the interval.
Lewis Galbraith crossed early in the second half and, after a couple more Bold tries, he finished the Rangers scoring. White added two conversions.
The under-12s are on the look out for new players. They train at Ashton Rugby Union club on Wednesdays, from 6.15pm to 7.30pm. Training switches to Greenfield after winter.

HIGGINSHAW Eagles under-16s edged out opponents Leigh East 24-20.
Nyle Reyburn crossed twice, before Jamie Mayall and Charlie Eddleston scored a try.
Mayall added a conversion.
Leigh regained the lead, but Higgy recovered when Charlie Eddleston touched down.
The under-10s were beaten 38-12 by Shevington.
Alfie Barker crossed twice and Ryan Wade also notched a try for Higgy.
