Tournament offers path to international stage

THE Radclyffe Athletic Centre plays host to the Greater Manchester Schools Table Tennis Team Championships on Sunday. All the action takes place between 9.30am and 5pm.
This tournament paves the way to the bigger stage, as the winners will take on other successful school sides from across the UK.
A top four finish at that point will then earn a place in England’s schools’ side, and the opportunity to play on the international stage.
Plenty of incentive to impress at Radclyffe Athletic Centre, where boys and girls will play in their respective categories.
Saturday, December 4 also sees Oldham Sports Centre showcase the Olympic sport of handball, to mark the 600-day milestone to the start of the London 2012 event.
The centre hosts the December round of matches in the England Handball Association’s under-18s league, from 1pm to 6pm.
Deva (Chester), Warrington Wolves, Cannock, Bedford and one of the area’s newest sports clubs, North-East Manchester Hawks, each play twice. There will also be a special open day, and ‘have-a-try’ competitions between matches.
