WINNERS: St Joseph’s players Katie Forde (back, left), John Norbury, Adam Holden, Jakub Dinnen, Olivia Rooney, Emily Toop (front, left), Jozef Kobyra, Tom Finnegan, Saul Prince and Ellie McWiggin.
HOCKEY: ST JOSEPH’S swept to victory in the Our Lady’s and Saddleworth School hockey festival, courtesy of a maximum points haul.
They bagged nine points in the annual round-robin competition, five more than runners-up St Chadds.
Friezland finished on three points, two ahead of Diggle, on an entertaining day at Saddleworth School.
St Joseph’s were the only school from the Our Lady’s cluster of primaries to participate, with their three opponents coming from the Saddleworth cluster.
Organiser Rick Fox, of Oldham Sports Development, said: “It was absolutely freezing, but it was on astroturf so the playing conditions were not affected.
“All teams played very well and I think they took something from the experience.”
