Rugby Union: OLDHAM RU have stepped up their bid to attract young people to the sport.
Club officials, keen to see youngsters play rugby union at Manor Park, have teamed up with East Lancashire and Manchester rugby union development centre, the RFU and Oldham Sports Development.
Steve Tyrrell, of Oldham Sports Development, is enthusiastic about the scheme.
He said: “Paul Arnold, who has Premiership experience, is running sessions at North Chadderton High School, Blue Coat and Crompton House for under-12s to under-15s.
“Children have really enjoyed having a go at the sport.”
Oldham hope the knock-on effect is a host of new youngsters joining the club’s junior teams.
Mark Nelson, Lancashire development centre project manager, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to enjoy sport at Oldham.”
