Cup run is talk of the Town

FOOTBALL: FAILSWORTH Town under-15s are through to the Manchester FA County Youth Cup semi-finals.

They beat Urmston Meadowside on penalties, after a 2-2 draw in which Tom Scullion and Jordan Mortimer scored.

But the under-14s lost 8-1 at Hollinwood. Ben McGrath contributed a solitary strike for Failsworth.



DANIEL Norris scored four goals as Boundary Park under-14s beat Moston Valley 9-6. Adam Sweeney netted twice, while James Hughes, John Lally and Aiden Kershaw were also on target for Boundary Park.

JOSH O’Donnell pounced twice for Chaddy End under-14s, but they were beaten 5-2 by Chadderton Juniors. And the under-16s lost 7-1 to Unsworth. Tom Heap scored a consolation goal.

AVRO under-15s beat East Levenshulme on penalties in the Tameside Sunday League Cup, after a 0-0 draw in normal time.
Dan Lindley, Nathan Brooks, Jack Raferty and goalkeeper Dom Wharton — who also saved two spot-kicks — were on the mark for Avro in the shoot-out.

The under-14s beat Bar Hill on penalties in the Tameside Sunday League Cup after a 4-4 draw in normal time.

Reece Shearer scored twice, with Jack Holmes and Ben Hulme adding solitary strikes.

The under-13s saw off Dukinfield Town 6-2 thanks in no small part to doubles from Kane Hanson and Jack Ward. Oliver Heald also got in on the act, and Dukinfield scored an own goal.



ROCS under-16s lost 3-2 to Moorside Rangers, with consolation strikes from David Clegg and Matthew Lowe.

HEYSIDE Juniors under-13s roared to a 9-1 win against Denton Youth, with Josh Park mustering a hat-trick and Kieron Thomasson and Ryan Nolan adding two goals apiece. Also on the mark were Jordan McLoughlin and Callum Harris.
Crompton Villa under-14s defeated Bolton BSS 5-3. Jack Johnson and Ryan Hall scored two goals each, and Josh Croll also netted.
