MANAGER Adam Clee says Dylan Moth (left) has played a pivotal role in helping Oldham under-15s reach the last eight of the English Schools FA Inter-Association Trophy.
FOOTBALL: OLDHAM under-15s bid to make the last four of the English Schools FA Inter-Association Trophy when they take on Mid-Oxfordshire at Ardley United tomorrow (7pm kick-off).
And manager Adam Clee believes his underdogs can make it all the way through to the final.
Holders Liverpool remain firm favourites to retain the trophy. But Clee thinks an Oldham side at full pelt can match anyone.
He said: “It has been a brilliant experience already, to have come so far.
“At the start of the tournament 148 teams were involved. Now we are down to the last eight.
“No one expected us to still be in the competition and even though we are underdogs, I have 19 lads who are fully committed and we can do it.”
A number of Clee’s players have joined professional clubs.
Goalkeeper Joe Hankinson, defenders Tom Speat and Billy Burgess, and midfield maestro James Schofield all belong to Rochdale’s Centre of Excellence.
Cameron Mason, first choice ’keeper, is at Oldham Athletic, while play-maker Dylan Moth plays at Liverpool’s academy and captain Regan Walker is with Bury.
Clee added: “The lads are making a good impression at their clubs, and everything they learn can only help us out on the pitch.”
