RUGBY: WATERHEAD under-17s ended their North-West Counties League Premier Division season with a comfortable 30-10 win over Burtonwood Bulldogs.
Adam Steeple touched down early on for Waterhead after charging down, and Ben Whitehead converted.
Burtonwood replied to level matters, before Steeple crossed again and Whitehead goaled.
The last play of the first half saw Jonathan Fouldes finish off a long kick from Whitehead, who added the extras.
Burtonwood went over after the interval but Steeple completed his hat-trick and Brandon Meanock added a try, with Whitehead converting on both occasions.
OLDHAM St Anne’s under-12s exited the North-West Counties League Cup after a first round 14-4 defeat at the hands of Widnes Moorfield.
Saints, of Division ‘B’, produced a determined display against their Division ‘A’ opponents.
Good play down the flanks handed Moorfield an 8-0 lead at the break.
Moorfield extended their lead after the interval but Saints showed plenty of pride and were rewarded with a try from stand-off James Barran.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers under-15s earned an 18-12 victory over Folly Lane.
Sebastian Leech put Rangers in front early on with a try in the corner, before Bowden Morgan
followed suit to hand them an 8-0 lead at half-time.
The second period saw Folly Lane rally and hit back with a converted try, but Leech touched down twice in quick succession and Dominic D’Adamo added a conversion.
The visitors reduced the deficit again with six more points, but Rangers held firm at the end.
Rangers under-13s suffered a 16-4 home loss at the hands of Ince Rose Bridge.
The visitors took the lead after 10 minutes courtesy of a fine solo effort, and they crossed again just before the interval.
Ince’s next try, halfway through the second half, arrived in controversial circumstances, with the home team claiming they scored after a seventh tackle, unnoticed by the referee.
Harry Aaronson weaved his way through the Ince defence to notch a consolation try late on.
