Triple triumph for Failsworth

FAILSWORTH Sports College won three finals in the Oldham Schools’ Basketball Knockout competition.
They earned victory in the Year Seven, Year Nine and seniors categories at the popular event, held at Oasis Academy’s Ball Hall.
Strong ties with Oldham Titans Basketball Club have clearly paid off for the Failsworth sides, as they swept to victory on three fronts and made it all the way to the final of the Year Eight group.
Each side played five matches in a league format before progressing to the final.
PE teacher at the school, Mark Davidson, said: “We are fortunate because coaches from Titans have, since the turn of the year, been training our players.
“Our teams were already talented, but the Titans link has pushed them on to the next level.”
Victory earned the sides a crack at the Greater Manchester Area finals, where they represented Oldham.
The Year Nines were beaten finalists, while the seniors — made up of Year 10 and 11 students — exited the competition at the semi-final stage.
The Year Sevens are yet to play their games.
