Oldham push for title glory

FOOTBALL: OLDHAM under-15s closed the gap on leaders Bolton to 10 points courtesy of a 2-1 triumph over Tameside in the Greater Manchester Schools’ League.
Adam Clee’s side have four games in hand and can still win the title, as Bolton have just one match left to play.
Tom Scullion (Failsworth) gave Oldham the lead after five minutes, and he soon doubled the advantage.
Tameside pulled back a goal halfway through the second period, but Oldham held firm.
On Saturday Clee’s side take on Macclesfield in the Greater Manchester Schools’ County Cup first round, at Egerton Youth Club (10.30am kick-off). The winners face Bury in the quarter-finals.
CHADDERTON Juniors under-13s enjoyed an 11-0 win against Oxford Park in the Tameside and District Junior League.
James Larty struck four times, Jack Garside scored a hat-trick and Jack Hoyle pounced twice. Ashley Hartley and Jordan Mitchell also netted.
MEGAN Jackson scored four times and Rhema Mears and Courtney Hunter both bagged braces in ROCS under-16s’ 12-0 win against Oldham Athletic.
Goals galore
ASHLEY Hartley and Michael Gill scored a hat-trick each for Chadderton Juniors under-13s in their 12-0 defeat of Broadway Celtic in the Tameside Sunday League.
Also on the mark were James Larty with two, Ryan McConkie, Sam Coleman, Liam Hindley and Jack Hoyle.
FAILSWORTH Town under-15s reached the final of the Tameside Sunday League Challenge Cup courtesy of a 3-1 victory over Bolton BSS.
Tom Scullion struck twice, and was joined on the scoresheet by Ben Rathbone.
