Saints eye path to glory

OLDHAM St Annes under-13s took a giant step towards the North-West Counties First Division title after beating fellow contenders Folly Lane 28-12. Brad Burgess scored three tries, and Ciaran Dean crossed twice. Oliver Russell scored four times. Saints need three wins to clinch the crown.
The under-11s slipped to a 24-4 loss at Thatto Heath. Adam Goodwin mustered Saints’ solitary try.
But the under-nines beat Westhoughton 32-0.
Brandon Turner and Sam Thackeray crossed twice each, and were joined on the scoresheet by Patrick Connor, James Hall, Finbar Martindale and Daniel Nixon.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers under-13s enjoyed a 22-4 home victory at the expense of Crossfields.
Bill Buckley put the hosts in front after good work from Ali Hassan, and Dan King added the extras.
Tom Brisk extended the lead shortly after the interval, touching down after Harry Aaronson’s smart pass.
Buckley and Hassan combined to release James Adams who crossed, and King converted.
Their final try saw Aaronson run through the centre of the field before going over.
The visitors mustered a late consolation try.
