OLDHAM under-15s suffered a surprise setback in their bid to clinch the Greater Manchester Schools’ League title following a 3-2 defeat against lowly Macclesfield.
Oldham gave themselves a mountain to climb after conceding two goals in the opening 20 minutes, and a third just minutes after the restart made the task even harder.
Daniel Lindley (Royton and Crompton) pulled one back midway through the second period, and he struck again with 15 minutes remaining. Oldham were unable to find an equaliser.
Bolton will win the league unless they slip up against Macclesfield.
CHADDY End under-11s enjoyed a 7-0 win over Moston Juniors Reds in the Manchester Youth and Mini-Soccer League. Tom Bartlett and Drew Mulligan scored two goals apiece, Jack Rattigan and John Hassall netted, and Moston conceded an own goal.
