RUGBY LEAGUE:
OLDHAM St Anne’s under-13s gained promotion to the North-West Counties League Premier Division courtesy of a comprehensive 40-0 defeat of Rochdale Mayfield.
Ciaran Dean, Brad Burgess and Patrick Casey notched two tries apiece, and Billy Barnes also got in on the act.
Six conversions from the boot of Oliver Russell completed the rout.
The under-11s suffered defeat at the hands of Orrell St James.
Lewis Croft, Robert Charles, Sam Ekgren and Ellis Rogers mustered tries, with Charles, Croft and Sam Hall adding the extras.
The under-nines enjoyed a 20-8 win against Hindley.
A slow start from the Oldham outfit resulted in their opponents crossing early on.
Hindley doubled their lead but Saints soon found their feet.
Sam Thackeray crossed twice, while Brandon Turner, Daniel Nixon and Michael Cashin followed suit.
SADDLEWORTH Rangers under-13s edged out hosts Chorley Panthers in a 19-12 triumph.
Chorley took the lead after 10 minutes, following a handling error.
Harry Aaronson wove a 20-yard path through the centre to cross and level matters, after good work from Reece Travis.
Chorley started the second half as they did the first, capitalising on a handling mistake to touch down.
This time the rescue mission was led by James Adams, who put down in the corner. Dan King converted.
King took the game by the scruff of the neck and ran 20 yards before scoring under the posts.
And he cleverly spotted a chance to add a drop goal for the visitors, to make sure of victory.
The under-10s returned to winning ways with a 34-6 home triumph over Langworthy Reds.
Bradley Jinks and Ben Forster led the way with two tries apiece, while Tom Healy and Daniel Dalzell also crossed.
The away side got on the scoresheet late on, but the game as a contest was already beyond them.
WATERHEAD under-11s were beaten 22-18 at Thatto Heath. Will Dickinson produced two tries and a drop goal for the visitors. Liam Leech and Mason Edmonson also touched down.
